Air travel: Air Canada adding more international flights over the summer

Air Canada has recently begun two new routes from Vancouver, flying to Frankfurt in Germany and Nagoya in Japan. There is more development to come, with nine other flights to be added this summer including Montreal to Marseille and Algiers in North Africa. Toronto will also be getting routes to Berlin and Mumbai.

Air Canada has set its sights on international expansion, and is currently developing rapidly. And as reports, the Canadian national carrier also has two new routes, which went into service just a few days ago.

On the intercontinental front, Frankfurt now has a daily link on a route which the company had not offered since 1998. Condor and Lufthansa also operate flights from Canada to the German hub.

Exclusive Japanese route

The carrier’s vacation and leisure subsidiary Air Canada rouge has also started flying between Vancouver and Nagoya Chubu, giving it a monopoly on that particular route and serving the fourth-largest city in Japan in terms of population.

Other new links have recently been announced, with three flights per week to London Gatwick in the UK, and a daily flight throughout the year to Taipei Taoyuan in Taiwan.

Plenty of new destinations from Montreal

Pierre Elliott Trudeau airport in Montreal is also getting four new destinations for the summer. Marseille on France’s Mediterranean coast will have three flights a week to begin with in the high season. In a few days’ time, twice-weekly flights to Tel Aviv in Israel will get under way, and Canadians will also be able to discover Iceland, with two flights a week to the capital Reykjavik.

Then from 1 July, there will be a route from Montreal to the Algerian capital of Algiers, with four flights a week in high season. This will be Air Canada’s second African destination after Casablanca.

Flights from Toronto to Germany, India and Iceland

Lastly, Toronto will have three new routes opening this summer, all with four flights a week. Berlin in Germany, Reykjavik and the exotic Indian city of Mumbai have all been added to the list of destinations.

"In summer, there’s nothing better than heading to foreign climes, and Air Canada is delighted to be able to offer its customers more options than ever before this year," said Benjamin Smith, President, Passenger Airlines at Air Canada to
